LOOKING AT THE TELEVISED CARD FOR WEC 43
by David Tees on October 9, 2009 a 12:19 AM

WEC Bantamweight Division Fight

Damacio “The Angel Of Death” Page (11-4-0) vs. Will Capuzano (6-0-0)

Damacio Page has had a successful run thus far in the WEC promotion, defeating Scott Jorgensen and Marcos Galvao, while suffering a loss to Brian Bowles. The biggest fights in Damacio Page’s MMA career came in late 2006, when he fought Genki Sudo at K-1 Premium 2006 Dynamite. Damacio Page is a fighter who is comfortable wherever the fight ends up, with ten victories coming by knockout and submission. Will Capuzano will be making his WEC debut in this fight, but he is a veteran of the Cage Kings promotion. In the Cage Kings promotion, Will Capuzano has defeated the likes of Trevor Robbins, Jason Horak and Bryan Goldsby. This fight against Damacio Page at WEC 43 will mark the fourth time Will Capuzano has competed in an MMA fight in 2009. Will Capuzano is a fighter who is comfortable wherever the fight ends up, with five victories coming by knockout and submission.

My Prediction: Damacio Page

WEC Featherweight Division Fight

Raphael Assuncao (13-1-0) vs. Yves “Tiger” Jabouin (14-4-0)

Raphael Assuncao made his WEC debut at WEC 40 in April 2009, in that event, Raphael Assuncao defeated Jameel Massouh by submission. Before coming to the WEC in early 2009, Raphael Assuncao fought UFC/WEC veterans Jeff Curran and Dan Lauzon. Raphael Assuncao will be entering the fight on a five fight winning streak, with his last loss coming to Jeff Curran in 2006. Raphael Assuncao will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with eight victories coming by submission. Yves Jabouin will be making his WEC debut in this fight, but he has already fought top MMA opponents like UFC veteran Sam Stout. Yves Jabouin is a veteran of the Ultimate Generation Combat promotion, where he defeated Thierry Quenneville, Rachid Aoudj, Frederic Poirier, Eric Davidson, Chad Hamzeh, Dustin Severs, Eric Lacelle, Antoine Coutu, Daniel Boissonneault and Nayid Hazem. Yves Jabouin will be looking to use his striking skills to gain the victory, with eleven wins coming by knockout.

My Prediction: Raphael Assuncao

WEC Lightweight Division Fight

Richard “Cleat” Crunkilton Jr. (16-2-0) vs. Dave Jansen (12-0-0)

Richard Crunkilton Jr. has had a long run in the WEC, attaining victories over Cruz Gomez, Luciano Oliveira, Victor Estrada, Paul Jenkins, Nick Ertl, Adam Lynn, Mike Joy and Sergio Gomez, while suffering a lone loss to Rob McCullough. Richard Crunkilton Jr. also made a lone appearance in the Ultimate Fighting Championships, losing to Hermes Franca at UFC 42. Richard Crunkilton Jr. is a fighter who is comfortable wherever the fight ends up, with thirteen victories coming by knockout and submission. Dave Jansen will be making his WEC debut in this fight, but he is a longtime veteran of the M-1 Challenge and Sport Fight promotions. While in the M-1 Challenge and Sport Fight promotions, Dave Jansen has defeated Matt Slosser, Dennis Parks, Jeremy Burnett, Tommy Truex, Sterling Ford, Flavio Alvaro, Ui Cheol Nam and Amirkhan Mazihov. Dave Jansen will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with seven victories coming by way of submission.

My Prediction: Richard Crunkilton Jr.

WEC Interim Lightweight Title Decision Fight

Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone (10-1-0) vs. Benson “Smooth” Henderson (9-1-0)

Donald Cerrone has already fought before for the WEC Lightweight Title, losing a controversial fight to champion Jamie Varner at WEC 38. In his other WEC fights, Donald Cerrone has defeated the likes of Danny Castillo, Rob McCullough and James Krause. Of his twelve professional fights, Donald Cerrone has only seen two of them go past the second round, which speaks to his finishing abilities. Donald Cerrone will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with nine victories coming by way of submission. Benson Henderson has had a successful run in the WEC thus far, achieving victories over Anthony Njokuani and Shane Roller. Benson Henderson will be entering the fight on an eight fight winning streak, which includes a victory over UFC veteran Diego Saraiva. The lone loss in the career of Benson Henderson came to Chad Klingensmith at Ring Of Fire 27 in December 2006. Benson Henderson will be looking to put the fight on the ground, with six victories coming by way of submission.

My Prediction: Donald Cerrone
